Francesco Cito, Pier Paolo Cito, Pierpaolo Mittica, Ivo Saglietti: quattro fotografi di fama internazionale, quattro fotografi che fanno parte della storia del fotogiornalismo, quattro fotografi ospiti di ImagO, quattro fotografi il cui lavoro risulta drammaticamente calato nel momento storico che ci troviamo a vivere. Già: il conflitto, la terra bombardata, ma anche il disastro di Chernobyl nei racconti degli scatti degli ospiti della prima serata per i 10 anni di ImagOrbetello. Pier Paolo Cito, Francesco Cito e Ivo Saglietti, nella loro straordinaria carriera, sono stati testimoni di guerre e sofferenze, hanno visto e riportato i drammi e le macerie dell’umanità; mentre Pierpaolo Mittica ha reso noto quanto accaduto nel 1986 e definito come la più grande catastrofe tecnologica dell’era moderna: l’esplosione della centrale nucleare di Chernobyl. Oggi le loro esperienze tornano estremamente attuali e – non solo in quest’ottica ma anche in quella di raccontare cosa significhi essere un fotografo in certi contesti – ImagO è orgoglioso di poterli portare, riuniti, davanti al proprio pubblico nella serata inaugurale della decima edizione del Festival. I quattro reporter ospiti della manifestazione, alternandosi negli anni, hanno riempito le sale di Orbetello affascinando il pubblico e mostrando il proprio lavoro con entusiasmo e generosità e a loro va il nostro più sentito grazie. Un aneddoto della storia del festival è che Pier Paolo Cito fu il primo ospite in assoluto: accettò l’avventura con la curiosità che lo contraddistingue, condividendo con tutti i presenti i propri scatti, la propria esperienza ed il proprio vissuto, dispensando consigli e curiosità in quella che all’epoca era un’idea tra appassionati. Mentre il 22 luglio tornerà, insieme ai colleghi, in quello che è diventato un appuntamento del settore riconosciuto a livello nazionale.

Indeed: conflict, bombed lands, but also the Chernobyl disaster are recounted through the shots of the guests of the first evening celebrating 10 years of ImagOrbetello. Throughout their extraordinary careers, Pier Paolo Cito, Francesco Cito, and Ivo Saglietti have been witnesses to wars and suffering, seeing and reporting on the tragedies and ruins of humanity. Meanwhile, Pierpaolo Mittica has shed light on the events of 1986, defined as the greatest technological catastrophe of the modern era: the explosion of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant. Today, their experiences have become extremely topical once again. It is with this in mind—and also to illustrate what it truly means to be a photographer in such contexts—that ImagO is proud to bring them together before its audience for the opening night of the festival's tenth edition. Alternating over the years, the four guest reporters have filled the venues of Orbetello, fascinating the public and sharing their work with enthusiasm and generosity, and they have our most heartfelt thanks. A fond anecdote from the festival's history is that Pier Paolo Cito was the very first guest: he accepted the adventure with his trademark curiosity, sharing his shots, his experience, and his life story with everyone present, while dispensing advice and trivia back when the festival was just an idea among enthusiasts. Now, on July 22nd, he will return alongside his colleagues to what has since become a nationally recognized landmark event in the industry.
