Perché ci aiuta ad affrontare la nostra paura peggiore, il timore che la vita non sia che caos e che la nostra sofferenza non abbia alcun senso…” (Robert Adams) Dopo aver conosciuto il lavoro di Umberto qualche anno fa, grazie al festival ImagO ho avuto la fortuna e il piacere di incontrarlo e di portare a Orbetello la sua mostra “La Via della Bellezza”. Raramente, in questi anni, mi è capitato di presentare autori così appassionati e sinceri, i suoi scatti compongono un unico, grande racconto in divenire, che parla dei suoi luoghi, dei suoi incontri e quindi, inevitabilmente, di lui. Per usare le sue parole: “Raccogliere semplici attimi del quotidiano per conservarli nel tempo, con la speranza che qualcun altro veda con i tuoi occhi, Una lunga passeggiata, incantato da volti, gesti, forme, luci…”

Having first discovered Umberto's work a few years ago, through the ImagO festival I had the fortune and pleasure of meeting him in person and bringing his exhibition "La Via della Bellezza" to Orbetello. Rarely, over these years, have I had the chance to introduce artists as passionate and sincere as he is. His images form a single, vast, ever-unfolding story — one that speaks of his places, his encounters, and therefore, inevitably, of himself. In his own words: "Collecting simple moments of everyday life to preserve them in time, with the hope that someone else will see through your eyes. A long walk, enchanted by faces, gestures, forms, light…"
