Sembra ieri e invece sono 10 anni, sembra incredibile e invece è realtà, sembra una manifestazione come tante e invece è ImagO: il Festival Internazionale di Fotografia di Orbetello, nato da un gruppo di amici e divenuto una consolidata realtà deI settore, che con l’edizione 2022 festeggia il decennale. Tante le speranze riposte quando era ancora solo un’idea, tanti gli amici, i collaboratori, gli appassionati di fotografia e gli esperti e professionisti di diversi settori che hanno dato il proprio contributo, anno dopo anno. Tanti gli ospiti a cui va un sentito ringraziamento. C’è chi ha partecipato per una stagione, chi ha messo la pietra miliare, chi è arrivato in corsa e chi ha sempre continuato a lavorare per far crescere il festival. Ma ognuno è stato prezioso e il risultato è una manifestazione che spegne 10 candeline, vanta ospiti di fama mondiale, conta su un pubblico sempre più vasto di fotografi e fotoamatori e ha generato un indotto turistico. Grazie a tutti coloro che hanno creduto nel progetto, a partire dalle amministrazioni comunali – sia quella che lo ha tenuto a battesimo, sia quella che ha continuato a crederci e supportarlo – gli sponsor e i professionisti che hanno messo a disposizione le proprie esperienze, ImagO ha potuto offrire mostre, corsi, seminari, workshop, letture portfolio, tavole rotonde, presentazioni di libri, conferenze e lectio magistralis. Quest’ anno alcuni dei grandi ospiti delle passate edizioni del festival torneranno a calcarne le scene, sia per ripercorrere tappe di questo percorso, sia per celebrare una strada che non giunge alla conclusione, ma vuol trovare un nuovo punto di partenza, attingendo anche alla ricchezza del passato. Il bilancio è sicuramente positivo e la voglia di continuare a scattare e diffondere la passione per la fotografia è sempre la stessa. Buon compleanno, ImagO!
It feels like yesterday, yet 10 years have passed; it seems unbelievable, yet it is reality; it looks like just any other event, yet it is ImagO: the Orbetello International Photography Festival. Born from a group of friends, it has grown into a well-established landmark in the industry, celebrating its tenth anniversary with the 2022 edition. So many hopes were pinned on it when it was still just an idea; so many friends, collaborators, photography enthusiasts, as well as experts and professionals from various fields have contributed year after year. To our many guests goes our most heartfelt thanks. There are those who took part for just one season, those who laid the cornerstone, those who jumped on board along the way, and those who never stopped working to help the festival grow. Yet every single person has been invaluable, and the result is an event that is now blowing out 10 candles, boasting world-renowned guests, relying on an ever-growing audience of both professional and amateur photographers, and generating a real boost for local tourism. Thanks to everyone who believed in the project—starting with the municipal administrations, both the one that originally launched it and the one that continued to believe in and support it—as well as the sponsors and professionals who shared their expertise, ImagO has been able to offer exhibitions, courses, seminars, workshops, portfolio reviews, panel discussions, book presentations, lectures, and masterclasses. This year, some of the great guests from past editions will return to the festival stage, both to retrace the milestones of this journey and to celebrate a path that is not coming to an end, but rather seeking a new starting point, drawing strength from the richness of its past. The balance sheet is undeniably positive, and the desire to keep shooting and spreading the passion for photography remains exactly the same. Happy Birthday, ImagO!
