In uno shooting organizzato nei minimi dettagli, parte del tempo va destinato ad assicurarsi che niente vada storto. La bellezza dell'improvvisazione è la certezza che qualcosa andrà storto.

A volte la direzione giusta è togliere. Il volto fuori campo, la mossa, il buio, quello che non si vede definisce quello che si vede. Togliere il volto non significa togliere il soggetto, significa spostare l'attenzione dalla persona alla forma, dall'identità al gesto, da chi è a cosa comunica. È un altro concetto di ritratto, ma comunque un ritratto.

Directions: sometimes the direction is to take away. The face out of frame, the motion blur, the darkness, what you don't see defines what you see. Removing the face doesn't mean removing the subject, it means shifting the focus: from person to form, from identity to gesture, from who it is to what it communicates. It's a different concept of portrait, but a portrait nonetheless.

Non è un oggetto qualsiasi, ha un peso culturale preciso, può essere pericoloso e richiede abilità. Tenerlo davanti all'occhio invece di usarlo dice qualcosa sul rapporto tra il professionista e il suo strumento. I toni caldi seppia e l'abbigliamento portano chiaramente a un'estetica che nel mondo della barberia tradizionale è quasi un riferimento identitario.

But here it's not a barrier, rather a tool of the trade that becomes a powerful visual element. It's not just any tool: it carries a precise cultural weight, it can be dangerous and requires skill. Holding it in front of the eye instead of using it says something about the relationship between a professional and his instrument. The warm sepia tones and the clothing point clearly to an aesthetic that in the world of traditional barbering is almost an identity reference.
