Andrea Boccalini ha iniziato la sua carriera con il reportage, lavorando su vari progetti in Guatemala sul lavoro minorile e sui movimenti contro lo sfruttamento delle risorse minerarie. Successivamente, è nata una forte passione per la fotografia di scena e per la ritrattistica legata alla musica jazz. In ambito teatrale, ha lavorato con molti registi di fama internazionale come Vincenzo Schino e Peter Stein. A New York, è entrato in contatto con i più eccellenti musicisti jazz del mondo. I suoi scatti sono stati oggetto di mostre e workshop. Il successo lo ha aiutato ad avviare collaborazioni con riviste nazionali e internazionali come il New York Times, il New York Post, Repubblica, Jazztimes, Downbeat, Rolling Stones e Musica Jazz. È stato il primo Leica Ambassador italiano. Sei anni fa ha iniziato a seguire con la sua Leica storie ai margini, restituendo dignità alle persone che vivono in contesti periferici sia urbani che sociali. Questi progetti sono stati oggetto di mostre e pubblicazioni, come quella su Terni e su Corviale. Quest'ultimo lavoro è stato presentato al grande pubblico al Photolux Festival, uno dei più importanti festival internazionali di fotografia. Per la sua attitudine a raccontare storie attraverso il ritratto, nel 2019 è stato scelto dalla Fondazione MAXXI per il progetto ‘Welcome - portare l'arte nelle scuole’. Attivo anche come fotografo per campagne pubblicitarie e progetti aziendali, ha tra i suoi clienti Pirelli, Huawei, Galbani Francia, Ducati e Lavazza, ed è consulente scientifico per il programma di Sky Arte ‘Master of Photography'.
Andrea Boccalini began his career with reportage, working on various projects in Guatemala, on child labour and movements against the exploitation of mineral resources. After that, a strong passion born for stage photography and jazz music portraiture. In theatre, he has worked with many internationally renowned directors such as Vincenzo Schino and Peter Stein. When he lived in New York, he came into contact with the most excellent jazz musicians in the world. His shots have been the subject of exhibitions and workshops. The success helped him to open collaborations with national and international magazines such as the New York Times, the New York Post, Republic, Jazztimes, Downbeat, Rolling Stones and Jazz Music. He was the first Italian Leica ambassador and he started to follow stories on the fringes, bringing back the dignity of the people who live in both urban and social peripheral contexts. These projects were the subject of exhibitions and publications such as the one on Terni and Corviale. This last work was shown to the general public at the Photolux Festival, one of the most important international photography festivals. Also active as a photographer for advertising campaigns and corporate projects, he has among his clients Pirelli, Huawei, Galbani France, Ducati and Lavazza and he is the scientific consultant for the Sky Arte ‘Master of Photography’ program.
